Technology World War II is considered by many historians and scientists to be so-called "mother of technologies." It is true that such periods of human history as conflicts and rivalries between different states stimulate scientific progress, particularly in military sphere. Technological progress of the Cold War was only a continuation of the one started by Germany in 30-40's of 20th century. We have to admit that Nazi Germany was a true technological leader of the world and even now Nazi inventions impress people. If we remind World War I we'll see that war had already changed human's attitude to machines but such inventions as airplane, tank, machine-gun, chemical weapons and many other terrible machines of war were only a precursors of future war of technologies. At the same time World War II overturned both political and scientific mind: it proved that technological progress was the main condition of victory over an enemy, so that explains the fact that practically all achievements of science (1939-1945) were military technologies. Finally, scientists and military commanders realized that science should work for war and for victory.
